Dey Mansion Washington’s Headquarters – Named after its builder and owner, Colonel Theunis Dey, the structure was offered to Washington to serve as his headquarters on several occasions. Today, it’s open for tours that give a glimpse back into New Jersey’s Colonial past.
Terhune Memorial Park – Residents and visitors alike are in for a treat either visiting this park or reading about its storied past which included serving as the home to a large family of Collies owned by the Terhune family. Today visitors can experience why this family called the land overlooking Pompton Lake an Eden-like paradise.
Tha Wayne Museum at the Van Riper-Hopper House – Explore this Dutch Colonial home which dates back to 1786 and experience what life was like for residents of the area some 250 years ago. The property, which is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, is still thriving with a full events calendar that includes outdoor yoga and meditation lessons, archeology seminars and family fun events.

Before World War II, Wayne was mostly farmlands. Workers came to contribute to the war effort and soon after the war suburbanization began.
Wayne was the former home of the Toys R Us headquarters.
Wayne has a history of supplying NYC with its annual Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, including one of the largest trees in 2005.
The band Fountains of Wayne is actually a reference to Wayne, New Jersey and a now defunct lawn ornament store. That same store also appeared in The Sopranos.
